Objectives of the Project:
The ITN Centre at BUET has been conducting research and training on water, sanitation, and waste management for over 10 years. It has supported a number of researches on neglected areas of the sector. As part of this effort, ITN awarded a contract to Commitment Consultants to conduct a study on the livelihoods of waste pickers in Dhaka city. CC with a number of field researchers conducted the study.
Detail Description of Actual Services Provided by CC’s Experts and Staff:
It was good opportunity to develop a comprehensive research to investigate the livelihoods and vulnerabilities of waste pickers in Dhaka city. Commitment Consultants successfully engaged with the waste pickers and elicited information on their livelihood patterns, socio-economic condition, water-sanitation-hygiene situation, and risks and vulnerabilities. Different methods were used for data collection. The sample size was 500 respondents. The findings were disseminated in a national workshop organized
